September 2022[edit | edit source]

6 Oct 2022 Mtg[edit | edit source]

Attendees: @shashank, @alexrandaccio, @dmski1, @Optix, @kamp, @commstark, @nuevecinco.eth, @Danny | Curiosity, @William | Curiosity

Notes

1. DAO Acceleration Group Announcement

  • Officially announcing the launch of the DAO Acceleration Group community program, which will lead by example and be governed by a DAO
  • Will amend the proposal to allow the program to take donations in other tokens (not just 0L donations), allowing the program to tangibly incentivize groups currently outside the 0L network / community
  • Should consider more programs for creating official footprints for 0L in other blockchain ecosystems (to help build relationships and attract talent from the broader web3 space)

2. RxC Process and Topics

  • @alexrandaccio has pulled a report of the statements in RxC so far (https://pol.is/report/r5rcfx7nuirmtrncwntmf)
  • @William | Curiosity will review / audit the ballot creation process with @alexrandaccio next week (10/11/2022)
  • For validator rewards and tokenomics, the key underlying question is price discovery to attach a value to the rewards and tokens
  • Other considerations include reducing the inflation rate, reconfiguring validator incentives, and rebasing overpaid community wallets that are not strategically relevant to 0L or web3

3. Strategic Investment Fund

  • Conversations are early at this stage since legitimacy will depend on community approval via the RxC process, but it likely makes sense to establish a formal team (accountable to the WGs) that can build relationships and officially support strategically important projects and teams on behalf of the 0L community

Next Steps

  • @Danny | Curiosity / @William | Curiosity to set up DAO and kickoff operations for the DAO Acceleration Group
  • @William | Curiosity and @alexrandaccio to go through the ballot creation process on RxC next week (10/11/2022)

29 Sep 2022 Mtg[edit | edit source]

Attendees: @ricoflan, @alexrandaccio, @Daniyal, @shashank, @William | Curiosity

Notes

1. Planning for the community meeting

  • Agenda will consist of
    • Recap / introduction to RxC Voice, its process, and its objectives
    • Introduction to the current questions on the RxC Voice docket
    • Roundtable discussion / fireside chat on the topics while encouraging comments from the community on the Discord channel
  • After decisions are made, actioning these decisions should ideally use the existing WG frameworks
    • Identify the WGs that are involved / affected by a community decision and bring them up the speed if not already
    • Identify objectives based on the community decision and provide the relevant WGs mandates to work toward completing or achieving their part of those objectives
    • For transparency and accountability, create and maintain a dashboard / Airtable with project / task owners (WGs and key members), objectives, timelines, current status, and next steps
  • More planning for the meeting to be done offline

2. DAO Acceleration Group Community Program proposal

  • The DAO Acceleration Group will research, promote, advise, and strategically invest in decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) and initiatives dedicated to DAO design, governance, and tooling on the 0L Network
    • For 0L to realize its potential as a cooperative launchpad and digital platform for entrepreneurs, the volume and capabilities of players, projects, and tools in the 0L ecosystem must grow significantly
    • This will require an abundance of human capital as well as reliable structures and incentives to coordinate people and resources
    • These needs can be addressed by nurturing impactful on-chain organizations while supporting the development of trustless, on-chain mechanisms for social and professional coordination on 0L
  • In the immediate term the DAO Acceleration Group’s mandate will focus on key infrastructure and general prerequisites for DAOs to flourish:
    • Identifying and prioritizing core organizational infrastructure / ‘legos’ for creating, governing, and operating DAOs on 0L (e.g. DAO creation tools, governance / token-voting platforms, multi-sig treasury management, etc.)
    • Conducting in-depth research into frameworks and best practices for DAO design, governance, and operations
    • Partnering with existing DAO infrastructure initiatives on other blockchains to expand their tools and expertise into the 0L ecosystem
    • Strategically investing in public goods that are crucial for DAOs on 0L
  • Longer-term the DAO Acceleration Group will begin more directly supporting DAO communities:
    • Helping communities launch their DAOs from scratch on 0L
      • Establishing contributor incentive models and coordination frameworks
      • Providing guides on how to work with legal, tax, and accounting service providers
      • Coaching first-time DAO bootstrappers on how to design and start working DAOs
    • Strategically supporting existing DAO communities on 0L
      • Coach and advise early-stage DAOs on growth and operations across sectors
      • Promote high-potential DAOs to the 0L community to attract capital and talent
      • Strategically invest in impactful DAOs to provide capital and align incentives
    • Cultivating an ecosystem of DAOs that support 0L’s growth as a cooperative launchpad and digital platform for entrepreneurs
      • Domain-specific DAOs filling existing or emerging niches in web3 (e.g. DeFi, metaverse, gaming, art, music, DeSci, social, etc.)
      • Emerging social networks with unique value propositions and talent access (e.g. alumni networks, distinguished social graphs, specialized communities
      • Communities with technology or expertise that serves entrepreneurs: legal, auditing, engineering, design, recruiting, etc.
  • The DAO Acceleration Group will function as a formal subcommunity within 0L dedicated to DAO research and business development for 0L, funded by community support to the community wallet
    • Importantly, the community program cannot by itself resolve compensation / incentive value problems related to a lack of price-discovery, but it does provide a social element and forum for gathering already-interested community members
    • Will be accountable to the validators for any community wallet transactions, and will share findings earlier for informational and feedback purposes with the Governance & Coordinators WGs
  • The first project for the DAO Acceleration Group will be a research report on DAOs and DAO infrastructure
    • This report will identify and prioritize different categories of DAOs and DAO-related initiatives / offerings
    • The report will highlight types of DAOs that could contribute important technology / primitives or expertise for the 0L ecosystem, fill important web3 niches, attract high-quality talent to the 0L network, or provide valuable products and services for entrepreneurs
    • The report will also highlight core frameworks, tools, and infrastructure for enabling DAOs on 0L, with competitive landscapes of providers of these offerings (both within and outside of Move) and buy-build-partner analysis for each offering type
    • Once completed, the report will be published and shared with the 0L community, guiding community members on where to direct efforts and resources while also helping inform more strategic decision-making for 0L's roadmap and ecosystem development

3. Strategic Investment Fund Community Program proposal (still very WIP)

  • Creating a community program aimed at providing funding (in the form of investments & grants) to projects and public goods that are strategically important to 0L's growth, roadmap, and ecosystem development
  • Would operate similar to a decentralized VC fund (taking inspiration from MetaCartel Ventures), with a greater emphasis on agility and completing projects / objectives rather than being an open forum for discussion / decision-making
  • Will be strictly accountable to the Coordinators WG as well as the validators (for community wallet transactions)
    • Will receive its research / investment mandate from the coordinator's working group, which will take both community decisions and WG member expertise into consideration when assigning a mandate
    • Will create an strategic investment dashboard (longer-term potentially scaling to a CRM like Affinity) to share with the Coordinators WG for transparency and accountability

Next Steps

  • @ricoflan, @alexrandaccio, and @William | Curiosity to continue to plan and prepare for the community meeting next week
  • @William | Curiosity and @Danny | Curiosity to continue to flesh out the DAO Acceleration Group and Strategic Investment Fund community proposals, with formal / finalized documents ready to share for the next meeting
  • @William | Curiosity and @Danny | Curiosity to prepare to launch the DAO Acceleration Group community program and wallet mid-October, bringing some relevant questions to the RxC Voice platform after establishing the program

15 Sep 2022 Mtg[edit | edit source]

Attendees: @ricoflan @Daniyal @shashank @dmski1 @Polo @Danny | Curiosity @William | Curiosity

Notes

1. Update on last week (brief review of the current deck with the updates that have been made)

  • Deck has aims to build consensus, with more specific details and decisions now the purview of the community through RxC

2. Discuss & brainstorm for the strategy & governance topics posted on RxC

a) Sponsorship for engineering & marketing

  • Could make it such that all of the community wallets contribute to a bridge fund for engineering & marketing, but need to consider governance over it
  • Will need some legal advice to consider proper legal entity structures
  • Would also be interesting to consider taking in funding from external foundations, public crowdfunding, non-profits, other ecosystems, iconic angel investors, etc.

b) Potential revisions to the Community Wallet system

  • Something to consider in Community Wallets could be testing a new community wallet that gives rebates back to validators in exchange for contributions outside of token payments
  • More documentation around Community Wallets and the process of running them or succeeding with them (including engaging with Validators for token contributions)
  • Need to create community wallets that provide capital and innovation back to the 0L ecosystem, driving a flywheel
  • Community wallets that are governed by the working groups themselves
  • Community wallets that act as representatives for different stakeholders or interest groups within the 0L community

c) Inflation and Validator rewards

  • Running validators on 0L is more complex and expensive than on other networks
  • May consider splitting validators into two groups, one for those that participate beyond running validators (e.g. participating in governance)

3. Discussion of additional RxC topics / proposal categories

  • New RxC question around creating investment / grants working groups for infrastructure building, as well as a topic on what key pieces of infrastructure / tooling are needed (e.g. DAO tooling)
  • Topic on new Community Wallets that would be relevant / important to the community Next Steps: @Danny | Curiosity @William | Curiosity to consider new RxC questions and proposals for investment group and infrastructure (edited)

Next Steps

  • @Danny | Curiosity @William | Curiosity to consider new RxC questions and proposals for investment group and infrastructur
  • Everyone to brainstorm and consider ideas for removing inflation while continuing to incentivize validators (most important / pressing question currently)

8 Sep 2022 Mtg[edit | edit source]

Attendees: @KF/PlaypalDAO @dmski1 @William | Curiosity @cjh247

Notes

  • @Danny | Curiosity / @William | Curiosity reviewing strategy / materials / vision doc
  • Should we re-frame vision deck on who we are targeting? Focused on impact of entrepreneurship - which might entail being more technical
  • How to: core infra tools, strong community with great governance with different groups of people (VCs, technical builders, non-technical builders, social impact)
  • Need to revise problem statement, stakeholder

Next Steps

  • Governance WG to work on some potential slides to propose to the wider group & integrate to the existing deck

    • How do we make this easily measurable & on-chain?
    • tokens non-transferable & with expirations (should consider)
    • Should we have regional meetings/working groups?

Next Steps

  • @Danny | Curiosity / @William | Curiosity to go through strategy / materials / vision doc

March 2022[edit | edit source]

31 Mar 2022 Mtg[edit | edit source]

Attendees @cjh247 @Jack Lin @ricoflan @shashank @alexrandaccio

Discussion

  • Discussed interim voting mechanisms in discord, reviewed an interim voting process
  • @ricoflan and @Daniyal have been working on the bot(s) to facilitate discord voting & improved its configuration. They are continuing to test (mainly still testing the civil protection bot)
  • @cjh247 to work on first draft of a 'constitution' / charter for 0L to compliment the governance / voting processes

Votes

  • WG unanimously voted to sponsor @ricoflan's interim voting / governance process. We will edit as a group and vote on it next week.
  • Following this it will be discussed on a community call and we will get feedback using a community poll

24 Mar 2022 Mtg[edit | edit source]

Attendees: @ricoflan, @daniyal, @shashank, @rydercryp, @sirouk, @victorethno, @ominous, @R3dD3vil, @JackLin, @Thomas | AW3L, @Mabu

  • @Daniyal has been testing a verification bot for Discord. Seems to be working, but still have a few things to work out on the config. This will give us Sybil protection for voting on Discord
    • Proposed first vote would be on something non-critical, like the venue for the Community Meetings.
    • Once we can look at the process and the outputs, we can decide whether to move forward with using it for more important decisions
    • Remember, this is a temporary solution!
    • Action Required: @Daniyal to finalize configuration and invite others to test
  • @ricoflan gave update on discussions with @mZ and @Matt P re: Constitution and getting set up for proposal management, discussion and voting
    • Action Required: @ricoflan to provide first draft of explicit constitution for review next week
  • DID:
    • Still more research needed, but looking good.
    • We’ve got a lot of the components in place.
    • Our keys might be sufficient for identifiers in the system
    • Our Delay Towers may also be used as an identifier (TBD)
    • Would need to make some modifications to get in line with W3C standard
    • Our current system is not interoperable
    • Next week we should have research on how it is being done on other chains and have an opinion on what work needs to be done; the goal being to get the work into Hustle Karma
    • Cheqd might also be worth looking into (link in Discord)
  • Slow Wallets: explained the issue here and that we will put this up for community vote after we get the voting mechanism in place

17 March 2022 Mtg[edit | edit source]

Attendees: @commstark @Daniyal @ricoflan rydercryp @shashank @anmoldhiman @thenateway

Identity Discussion

  • We are trying to solve for governance of the community & protocol
  • @ricoflan shared the DIDC standard (in discord) for the group to review
  • We need an MVP (to solve for agreeing on upgrades via library updates)
  • Looking at wc3
  • Have an interim lightweight community voting mechanism in discord
  • @cjh247 to research how other protocols handle identity (though I am out next week)

10 March 2022 Mtg[edit | edit source]

Attendees: Daniyal ricoflan shashank commstark victorethno cjh247 AshiiixVoting Platform

  • Test service is up, bots are installed, but some settings still need to be worked through

Focus Areas - Identity

  • Figuring out how we want to tackle identity in this community is the first hurdle / traunche of work the governance working group will likely focus on
  • Next weeks meeting will be completely focused on this
  • Please come prepared with some research beforehand 🙂
  • Building primitives around DAO management off of Eth, could bring a lot of utility to our token/community that we could offer elsewhere
  • How do we create a functional digital identity?

Attendees : shashank cjh247 commstark mumubobo victorethno Tinch villesundell

Signaling

  • Initial recommended discord tooling identified by @ricoflan & @Daniyal

SIP Concerns

  • ricoflan and zmanian | iqlusion have discussed this further (broadly items related to SIP Concerns on the Teams proposal, slow wallets, and just generally macro related items related to the ecosystem's economics) & thought we should step back and view this all holistically
  • Node architecture on the original Diem (which we model based on) was really designed for an enterprise IT department to maintain which presents challenges to 0L

Validator Scorecard

  • B to discuss this with the analytics WG

Governance Token Discussion

  • There is a governance token mining proposal begining to be scoped out, which aims to rewards doers (WG members, people who complete bounties, social impact partners, Carpe miners, validators and other members of the community)
  • These tokens are meant for governance and would have dates they expire on
  • shashank to help chunk out some of the work around this into smaller parts to distribute to various stakeholders in the Governance WG and wider community

  • Governance working group aligned around following the presribed process, but to approach its posting in a community channel as a referendum to get community input (vs an actual community vote)
  • This will allow for a 'temperature check' from the community and a chance to potentially get valuable input

General Governance Discussion

  • Will need to carve out more time for this
  • Should we look at having some sort of constitution?
  • How do we build in a governance structure with checks and balances?
