  • Wade: Things are getting quite. Backchannel now exists to reach Mysten ppl (Sam).
  • Ricoflan: Poll for constitution is open. Very few have voted (but all that voted were in favour). We should think about adoption increases. Why do ppl want to come to OL vs other L1s? We should think about messaging.

  • DesignSage: Working on Carpe GUI, no new missions to resport (on holiday)

  • Commstark: have we considered using 3rd party protocols like DeWork to post work for OL tokens - might be a good way to attract workers. Wade said it's easy just need Admin Access. Process: Commstark to write up idea in HK, get thumbsup vote, set up DeWork project, if admin needed get admin to do it if not Commstark to do it

  • Commstark: Doesn't know how make the payments. Rico does payment and just need invoice - Wallet owner (Rico) needs list of workers and amounts and addresses. Transfer get sent and then it sits in limbo for three days. Then it get's transferred and you got to Github (broker does the Github portion) and input the receipts.
  • Group: Should we spend time and resources automating the payment process? Group: Yes
  • Officers for next term: All working group officers will remain, allows for payments of last quarter to go through

  • Engineering WG: 4 new bounties out (bridge UI, web UI, looking for Networking Zsar, and pushing to find 5 or so Engineers from previous Diem team. Sent our worker payments that were due. Wade TPT created a new Github site for Gitcoin bounties (these were for Web UI and Carpe UI).
  • Governance WG: Nothing. Roles are ending on the 8th
  • Analytics WG: Invoices submitted. They are also recruiting Data Scientists (3 people right now). There are 3 big tasks and plan to break them down. There is no Invoice in April. Analytics Group is highly understaffed but is a great chance to learn from experts.
  • Hustle Karma WG: 60,000 coins for moderators payment. People have reached out to them for a moderator. Decided to change moderator pay to 10,000 coins per week, starting on 27th of April. Asks that
  • Branding WG: Branding and Comms Group meets tomorrow and want a decision on the branding (keys vs sun)

  • Rico: Proposed Constitution - will be able to get a better community footing if it passes
  • Network problems are getting better, a few issues in Engineering Working Group

  • Engineering WG: Engineering WG has been busy getting the network back up. The workers who have been involved have been allocated tasks with bounties in the Airtable
  • Hustle Karma WG: A few new users have shown interest in Moderating. R3D has started a process in giving them a task to follow other moderators for a two week period. If they are still active after this period, he reaches out to them.
  • Branding & Comms WG:27th April - logo ideas will be shown and a poll will be taken for which ones are best received

  • Community Initiatives: - Discord polling is in the works and being tested
  • Should get a start on putting together a bounty for Bridge UI(Carpe, Web or both)
  • Elections for key roles will be coming up - It will start with HK.
  • When should we formally announce polling? (Daniyal & ricoflan to sort out this week)

  • Design: Bounties to complete and lots of new volunteers in the group

  • Key Role Payment: Key Role payment of 40k a month, Community Manager payment of 50k a month -> payment made quarterly and Community Manager is in line with the HK Group, payment back dated for current quarter (Feb-April)
    • Each Group has a different 3 month calendar. Governance: End of April, (Rico To Update)
  • Moderator Payment: Increase Moderator pay from 8000 coins per channel per month to 40000 coins per channel per month (there are 3 channels total so 120,000 coins per month)
    • Payment totals to be reviewed in 3 months
  • DesignSage to build a social media graphic to tweet for guests (Sam Blacksheer session tomorrow)
  • R3dD3vil has a person in mind for social media/Twitter role

  • Try and get the full time workers (FTW) fund up and running to get developers to contribute more. Rico will take up topic with OD and Engineering working group and report back next week
  • Payment to the Keyroles to the working groups, community manager, and the bounty for the video recording of weekly meeting/youtube management. Considering moderator at 50,000 gas a month and other keyroles at 40,000 a month

  • HustleKarma: 6 new community moderator roles opened up. Moderator roles to be filled up in phased manner. upto 3 spots to be filled within next couple weeks. 3 more role to filled after that.

  • Analytics Group: Working session this Friday 2pm pst a work session
  • Payment: How to value the gas? Commstark: Has to be relative to validator payment (60,000 per day *0.5 (community wallet)*365 - 11,000,000)). This amount is variable on a few elements (# of validators, transaction fees). Spoke at length about different ideas for how to value gas coin.

  • DesignSage: is it brokers role to suggest bounty for tasks? A: yes. Design Sage had concerns about work that isn't just hourly (more difficult, more important...).
  • Red D3vil: We should talk to legal about Bounty payments to Russian nationals. Commstark: in fully decentralized payments should still occur and there's no person for the government to go after. RicoFlan will ask legal anyways to make sure we spoke about it.
  • RicoFlan: Daniyal is Community Manager. We need to sort out a Bounty for the role

• Weekly Roundup
  • ENG - Filled the project board manager role (Ashiix); DBorham is taking the Coordinator role;  New operator for Test Net; multiple Epoch archivers have been selected; payments need to be processed for Carpe tutorials (0D holds the wallet); work done on a variety of other tasks that have yet to be invoiced; work being done on localization of Carpe, tutorials will follow; Added new GitCoin task and accepted workers; made some modifications to the AirTable to make sure payments are done properly; have added another task to GitCoin for Bridge work.
  • Hustle Karma - No new work; just payment processing (around 80,000 last week). New Community Manager position will be taken
  • Design & Branding - No new missions closed but work ongoing with branding in particular. Issue to be discussed next week re: whether experience and skill level should factor into bounty amounts

• Other Business
  • Let’s look at expanding GitCoin presence. Wade to reach out to Leone to set meeting to discuss expanding / improving our GitCoin efforts.
  • Timing of payments is not ideal. Some Community Program Managers are slow to pay.
  • Slow Wallets
    • Timing: One suggestion was made to set it at 270 or 360/365? Others disagree; think it should be sooner - the limitation makes harder to find workers.
    • Daily Limits: A lower amount — maybe 5,000 — would be better than 10,000 and would better restrict the whales.
    • There is some appetite for having either two classes of slow wallets or removing the restriction on disbursements from Community Programs.

  • Design: Design tasks are underway. Missions have received sponsors
  • Coordinators: No missions so far
  • Analytics: Issues processing payments

Governance: No missions so far (perhaps Validator Score Card happening this week)

  • Validator score card will be created the Governance call (hardware requirements, uptime, involvement in community). Priority project.
  • Saturn brought up issue with processing payment (not sure what to do)
  • Free Rider problem is getting worse (running more than 1 validator, not contributing 50% to wallet)
  • Radical Exchange will be talking this week on the Community Call

  • Completed January accounting

• R3D D3VIL:
  • 180,000 Gas Coins have been paid, more waiting because of slow mode.
  • Has Data regarding retainer fee. Some mods don’t contribute at all.
  • R3D D3VIL Proposal:
    • Should we make a rule to suspend the retainer fee if they don’t contribute for 1 week within 4 weeks?

• Nominations (self) to close on February 4th
• Elections to be held on the 8th of February (motion for this decision was created by @ricoflan and 2nd by @commstark
• ACTION: Post your self nomination in the working group

(2) Important News This Week:

• Got budget of 3,000,000 tokens for any engineering or design missions
• Facebook moved off Diem. New partnership between OL and Mysten Labs to promote Move language.

  • Had discussion on setting up governance process but no tasks

• Testing a new process for 1-2 months
• Optimizing for quantity of contributions so that we can edit down to a great design at the end
• Offer smaller rewards (e.g. 100) for smaller bounties
• Want to encourage collaboration (not competition) the reward is split between everyone
• Task: DesignSage to write this up and add to the Process Document for team to review

• Spoke to Z and asked for analytics data for Hustle Karma
• Z asked for us to show up at the Analytics Group this Friday to discuss our needs

• Tasks on GitCoin. Not an issue but since 0L is not trading so the bounty would have to put it in USD and make a disclaimer that 0L coin is illiquid

• R3DD3VIL (Broker Hustle Karma):
  • No major update but all work is going as plan and being updated
• Wade | TPT (Broker Engineering):
  • Has a few items that have not been sponsored. Reached out to the sponsor via email but did not get feedback/responses from them.
  • Engineering team suggested that they should create a wallet and ppl can pay themselves. A type of smart contract built on OL network. Worker takes money and is assumed to be an honest worker until proven guilty.

• Shashank (Broker Governance Working Group):
  • Trying to get practice and parliamentary procedures.
  • Has not created many tasks or asked for bounties yet. For us to have access to exchange tools (radical exchange) new tools need to be built. Radical Exchange was willing to build this out of their wallet.

• designSAGE (Branding and Comms):
  • Focused on figuring out brand story
  • Trying to figure out how to take the tasks planned and convert them to missions on airtable

• IO (Coordinators Working Group): New to group and no update

(2) Items from last week

• Consistency and equitable compensation: Overview on what was written by CommStark
  • Issues brought up: Wade | TPT: Change High Skill to 5 years. Ensure that tasks were broken down to small manageable pieces - the highest time period should be 1 day.
  • Asked the group if these 2 changes are good to change: There was no objection and everyone agreed. CommStark will update document.
  • DesignStage asked: How do we compensate and build tasks based on time given that design work and completion is subjective?
  • Wade: Asks that everyone on the current call (all the Brokers) add and engage with the Hustle Karma process document
  • Call to Action: Engage on the process document. Add edit as needed so that it fits your Working Groups needs.

• Survey ppl at end of month who have received Bounties from airtable to see if the bounties are fail
  • Call To Action: Identify everyone who received payment - R3DD3VIL is a key person
  • Use Google Form for survey - CommStark will build this
  • Review and Change Google Form in next Hustle Karma Meeting
  • Send out Survey to everyone identified in a)

(3) Should there be payments for roles?

• Commstark: Yes everyone is economically incentivized
• IO: Yes it allows for personal ownership
• Wade: Yes it takes a lot of time out of ppls work
• Shashank: Yes also
• Ricoflan: Yes as well

(4) If there is compensation, is it OK that the community confirms this based on community wallet:

• Wade: Community driven and then revisited
• Commstark: I agree, community driven for the philosophy
• Ricoflan asks: What if, at the end of each 3 month period, there is a single disbursement of equal share of what is in that wallet?
• Shashank: Ask community manager to give funds for all the different roles
• This topic is on Thursday’s Working Group meeting

(5) Each working group is supposed to have a mission and scope statement.

• Call To Action: Look at the mission and agree/change to it

(6) Should we convert bounties to a smart control (honest until proven guilty):

• Shashank: any bounties paid to community wallets can be reversed for up to 72 hours

(1) Open Items

• During the Coordinators WG meeting compensation for the 3 'main' roles in the working groups was discussed, but since the Coordinators' WG is still missing coordinators for all the WGs, this item will be revisted next week.
• It is noted that compensation will likely come out of full time worker fund.
• @ricoflan noted that @designSAGΞ brought up that it was difficult to determine fair bounties/compensation at this stage
• As a follow up to last week it was noted that @Wade | TPT added a new column in airtable for working group (domain) & also added priority.

(2) Round Robin

• It was noted that a methodology that is being used by the Eng working group for bounties is: 1k (gas) for easy engineering tasks, 2k (gas) for a medium tasks, and 10k (gas) for a larger task (that would take a full day's work)
• We need to speak with people in the community who have/are working on tasks to see if they view this as fair
• To this end at the end of the month @ricoflan recommends we do a survey on sentiment toward payment & process (to those that have been paid bounties @commstark offered to assist)
• It is noted we need to codify our approach to compensation, run this by brokers, after this we need to go through airtable and rationalize existing bounties. If a bounty needs to be changed in the interim, that's fine as long as a worker hasn’t already started work.

• @Wade | TPT will continue to reach out to find sponsors for Eng. bounties

• Group discussed how to move from the previous karma police focused structure to the new interim org structure
• It was noted that the role of the karma police were covered by /similar to the new roles (broker, coordinator, archivist, etc)
• In terms of the new role compensation amounts / system the group decided to send this to the operations working group for a decision as it affects more than HK (suggested by @ricoflan )

(2) Interim HK Voting Process

• Group agreed that we can take votes in the group by a tally of the votes of those attending the meeting (or other active members who are not able to attend but express specific views)

(3) Finding Bounty Sponsors

• As a process we should have the brokers come together as a group each week, do an open bounty review and come up with a consolidated list to input in airtable & send this list to community program managers
• Need to add a column in airtable for working group / domain for each task ( @Wade | TPT can do this)
• Still need to document how we document bounty requests / agreements to pay them -Group still needs to map the bounty process & identify gaps -analytics and operations wg still need brokers

• @ricoflan to work on 1 pager role responsibilities sheet
• Standing Agenda Items Going Forward -Round Robin from all working group brokers of issues/items to discuss with the HK working group

(1) Payments in process

• FTW invoices presented
• Moonshot /Engineering. Payments made last week for 3 tasks.
• Added contributors.json file and payments.json file to GitHub with pull request
• Some more items to be invoiced this week for Moonshot and for Iqlusion Engineering Fund
• Will look at process and refine. A bit clunky at the moment.

(2) All are onboard with Org Process proposed but the Governance Working Group

(3) Interim Roles (in line with new Org Process):

• Nominated for interim roles: @R3D D3VIL for Broker, @cjh247 for Archivist, @ricoflan for Coordinator.
• We will reach to out to all nominated to see if they are willing to serve; if anyone has any objections to the nominees, or wishes to propose others, please say so here
• Once election process is defined, these roles will be open for election and the interim leaders will step down

(4) Missing bounty sponsors:

• Rico has sent emails to all CP Mgrs encouraging them to sponsor.
• Note that this effort will be handed over to the various Brokers under the new org scheme

(5) Wade to reach out to @shashank on suggestions he has made for Hustle Karma process

28 Dec 2021 Mtg

(1) Payments Process

• @ricoflan proposed moving forward with the method/formula proposed by @R3D D3VIL as no community input has been received (i.e. nobody weighed in on the posted formula/method asking for changes)
• To avoid constantly changing this method, we will revisit this formula/process on a quarterly basis (next time being 1 April, 2022)

(2) Invoices

• Invoices have been sent to the Moonshot fund, but @ricoflan was unsure if they had been paid and pinged @0D | 0o-de-lally to confirm

• We will now be issuing invoices for the Discord moderators (per @ricoflan ) to the FTW Community Fund [I may have captured this name wrong]

(3) Interim Governance / Organizational Structure

• We need community input on the proposed organizational structure before spinning up the Operations Working Group

(4) Open Issue -@ricoflan brought up an issue of bounties that lacked a sponsor. He reached out to community leaders, but didn’t get a response. He has set up a mailing list.

• RedDevil has shared a proposed formula in the HK channel.
• We need the community to weigh in. 7 day comment period, then we will revisit in next meeting of this working group
